February 2017

Welcome to our new families for 2017 and welcome back to our returning families.

Fundraisers: Our major fundraiser for the year will be the Chocolate Drive. The boxes of chocolates will be available from Monday, 27 February so if you would like to help out with our fundraising efforts by taking a box to sell to family, neighbours or work colleagues please see the office. As an incentive, a prize of a 5kg box of Favourites will be presented to the family who sells the most boxes of chocolates. Upcoming Events: Entertainment Books – available from late March; Advanced Life Photography Family Photo Day – Saturday, 13 May.

Bunnings BBQ – The Centre has been invited to work the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Stafford on Saturday, 18 March. We are seeking parent helpers on the day so if you would like your Semester 1 Working Bee Levy refunded, please put your name on the Blackwood Street door.

CCR Rebates: The CCR (Child Care Rebate) is capped at $7500.00 per child per financial year. Centrelink will usually hold a 15% buffer which means that some families CCR will be cut off at $6375.00. Centrelink will then do their reconciliations at the end of the financial year and will reconcile any differences direct with the family. There are some families we have identified that have already reached their limit and some that are close to the limit. The balance of CCR that Centrelink have paid is printed on each statement we send out to our families. Please look carefully at the very bottom of your statement. There is a box that is labelled “CCR Paid YTD” and this will show the total CCR that Centrelink have paid. Please contact the office if you have any queries.

Absences – Please remember to always let the office know if your child will not be attending daycare, whether it be from sickness or holidays. We often have families who require extra days but we cannot say yes to them if we are not positive there will be room for them.  If you are going on holidays please fill in the “Notification of Absence” form available in the Parent Resource Room.  If your child is sick, please give the office a quick call or simply send an email in the morning.  The benefit of this to the family whose child is away, is that if we offer that day to another child the fees will be payable by that family for the day instead of the absent family.

Thank you to all families for your patience during the introduction of the digital sign in system. This will help streamline some of the administration processes. It seems that everyone is getting into the habit of signing in and out each day which is fantastic. There will still be some times when your child needs to be picked up by one of your emergency contacts so they will need to see one of us in the office for help in setting them up with a pin number in the system. During and at the end of the day the staff will mark the rolls in each room. If you have forgotten to sign your child in/out or your child is absent, the next time you sign in you will be asked to confirm the attendance or absence.

All families will have received an email regarding the fundraising toy catalogues from Parent Direct, Chalk Educated Toys and Educational Experience. They are available in the Blackwood Street foyer near the digital sign in iPad for families to pick up. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to do your Christmas shopping early and without going to the shops. Chid Care Rebate

When it comes to the end of a financial year and your Child Care Rebate is approaching the annual limit per child, Centrelink will withhold 15 percent to reduce the chances of a reconciliation debt. In the new financial year, when your tax returns are completed, the Department of Human Services do a reconciliation and work out families’ CCR entitlements based on actual income, gap fees and child care attendance information. The DHS pays families any outstanding CCR directly to their nominated bank account or raises a debt (for those families who may have received too much as fortnightly or quarterly payments).

Entertainment Books

Thank you to all of our families who have already purchased either the Book version or the Digital version of the 2015-2016 Entertainment Books.  Last years 2014-2015 Entertainment Books have now expired.  If you haven’t already purchased a new 2015-2016 Entertainment Membership, now is the time to do so.  Plus, 20% of every Membership we sell contributes toward our Centre.
